Cheshire East Substance Misuse Service – Young Persons Service

Cheshire East Substance Misuse Service is part of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust providing support to all residents of Cheshire East. The Young Persons section of this service caters for anyone under age 25 and has recently gone through an exciting redesign with CWP now solely operating the service.

They provide assessment, 1-1 support and group work to help young people address problems with drugs or alcohol. This may mean to achieve abstinence or to reduce the impact of their substance use. Their approach is person-centred and is led by the young person’s need. The focus of their interventions is recovery-based. If pharmacological interventions are required they have prescribers on both their bases to supervise this.  They can also signpost to other agencies for support with issues such as housing, mental health etc. They have two main bases (see details below) but aim to see young people in an environment that they feel most comfortable. This may be in their own home, school, college, GP practice or a café.

Referrals can be made by any third party but they do have to have the young person’s permission for this. Young people can also self-refer. Details of how to do this are detailed below:-
