Good luck Liam

Hi all,

This is Liam Read writing about my experiences with Friends For Leisure as I have left since I turned 21 recently. I have been going to Friends For Leisure for 16 years and I’ve enjoyed my time there. I’m so sad that I had to leave because it has been a big part of my life and I’ve done many activities. My favourite activities include Friends For Leisure’s Got Talent, International themed evenings, Curry Nights and going to see theatre productions once in a while.  I have also done football, swimming, ten-pin bowling, cinema trips, day-trips to Blackpool and Chester Zoo and of course the fortnightly youth group.

I started at Friends For Leisure in 2002 where my very first activity happened to be a fundraiser I did with my Dad and my brother Jimmy outside McDonald’s which is now a Poundland on Mill Street. Since then, people have come and gone and the staff that worked there when I left didn’t work at Friends For Leisure in 2002.

The staff members and volunteers that have come and gone that I’ve known include the sisters Danny and Cathy, Gareth, FFL founder Trevor Surtees, Lisa Nixon, Jade Angell, Joseph Nixon, Taylor, Emily Cox, Chris and many more that I can’t name from the top of my head.

Thank you for all the wonderful years I’ve had with Friends For Leisure and I’m currently pursuing my career in singing and radio presenting.  You can catch up with me and my radio show every Tuesday night from about 10.40pm on Canalside Radio 102.8 FM.  If any of you listen, then please do send an email into studio@canalsideradio.net and I will say hello to you on air in a future broadcast.

It’s been a wonderful 16 years but now I have to go.  My best wishes to everyone involved in Friends for Leisure for the future.

 Kind regards,

 Liam

See you soon! Wishing you all the luck and happiness for the future Liam.

Best wishes from all the staff at Friends for Leisure.
