Hello John!

Trustee Profile: John Wilde

Some of the young people from Crewe Youth group thought of some questions to ask John:

  1. What do you do to help FFL? To help FFL run smoothly , FFL uses a database. I’m learning how to develop the database and repair it if it goes wrong. I’m enjoying this but I am finding it difficult.I go to Macclesfield bowling as a volunteer. This brings back memories for me as I used to bowl a lot when I was aged 13 to 17.
  2. 2. What is your favourite food? Do you like Italian? I love food. I like porridge. I mix my own muesli. A thin pizza with lots of topping….delish. My wife makes a mean red-cooked pork. Fish pie…. can you beat it? Then there’s Indian which I love so long as it’s not too spicey.

3. Why did you choose to be a trustee for FFL instead of anywhere else?

For 35 years I worked, first, as a Social Worker, then later as a manager of other Social Workers. I remember FFL starting up in 1995. I encouraged it when I could and admired its growth. I was pleased when I was invited to become a Trustee.

4. Are you a fan of films?

I’m not a great films fan, though I do like some of the old Bond films , plus Clint Eastwood’s A Fistful of Dollars, and then The Magnificent Seven. I do enjoy the old Laurel and Hardy films.

5. Do you like cars?

I only like them as a way of getting about. I drive a 9 years old Skoda which probably says it all.

6. Have you ever been to any youth group activities?

I’ve only been once to the Congleton Youth Group when it recently held a fundraising event. I was impressed with how well the young people seemed to get on with each other. Time permitting, I must go to a few more.

7. What are your hobbies and interests?

I love listening to music like Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Rolling Stones & Status Quo.

I enjoy birdwatching, reading, walking, snooker & bowling. My wife & I also go Ballroom & Latin American dancing.
