This is our 1.1 friendship scheme at Friends for Leisure.

This is where our volunteers are matched with a young person in their local area to accompany them to a leisure activity of their choice. This could be a casual arrangement – watching a film, doing crafts, going for a coffee or to the cinema.

Or it could be a more fixed arrangement – going to scouts, brownies or a sports lesson every week.

The number of hours a volunteer spends with a young person is totally up to the volunteer and young person/family to decide, and will be agreed at the link meeting once we have made a match.

When the young person and volunteer go out together – the young person will pay for their own activity, and the volunteer pay for their own. Most volunteers do not drive, therefore we would expect parents/carers to make their own transport arrangements. A DBS check is completed by the volunteer.

Once we have found a match, and you have agreed, we will organise a link meeting for you both to meet and make further plans from there!
