Friends for Leisure have now had our funding arrangements confirmed with Cheshire East Council which means that there will be a few changes to our activities from June onwards.

We are pleased to say that most of our activities will stay the same but they will not cost anything to attend (apart from drama which is funded from another source). However, (when face-to-face sessions) we ask for a contribution of £1 per session to cover the costs of refreshments. Tuck shops will still be available, should young people decide to bring their own money for this.

You may notice a reduction in the number of term-time sessions each month. However, Friends for Leisure plan to seek additional funding to put on extra activities where we can, throughout the year.

There are some exciting new projects starting, again from June onwards, that we would like to share with you:

  1. Our current Macclesfield youth group will be splitting into 2:

Macclesfield youth group (ages 10-14 years)

Macclesfield 15 Up (ages 15-21)

These groups will run on alternate Wednesdays. Whilst regulations are still easing, these groups are likely to be virtual on zoom to start with. We will let you know as soon as we can when arrangements are able to change.

2. PALS (Personal and Life Skills)- This project will consist of twelve 3-hour long sessions across the year for all age groups, based in Macclesfield. The sessions will focus on building specific skills through fun and inclusive activities. These activities will be about developing independence, safety, social skills, well-being and community involvement.

Additionally, from June, the Crewe Juniors and Crewe Youth group will merge to include young people aged 10-21.

The Macclesfield groups will be led by Hannah and activity leader Cathy.

CYG (for ages 10-14) will be led by Lisa and activity leader Jo. Congleton 15 Up staff will continue as Lisa and Lizzie.

The current Macclesfield Saturday Club will remain virtual during term time and we will let you know as soon as we are able to update you on a return to bowling.

We are currently making plans for face-to-face activities in the summer holidays and a summer flyer will include all these for your information, later in the year.

Don’t forget to check out our May half term picnics and book your place asap! Places must be booked before attending.

If you have any questions or comments about the above, we would be very pleased to hear from you. We cannot wait to get things moving and see you all again!
